Ducati Multistrada 1200S vs. 950

Comfort seems to be the same. Other than the power difference, the suspension and swing arms are different styled, pricing obviously.

Is the 950 the poor mans 1200 and how similar/different are the riding feels?

Not a competition type of thread, but a comparison within the brand.

the swingarm of 950 is the same of 1200 enduro so i wouldnt say that is for lower pricing. Also 950 is on-off while 1200 with one side swing arm is sport touring. the biggest differences are the engine, and the electronics.

Some may want more power, but I think the 950 is more than adequate for most riders unless they plan to take on those hardcore trails usually reserved for the BMW GS races.

Figured that might be the case since some people have actually been dropping the 1200 for a 950 but at the same time some people ride the 1200 just for perspective. You can appreciate the 950 more after riding the 1200.

Just gotta think about where you're located and where you primarily ride. Are you really going to need and/or even ever utilize all that unicorn power?! Probably not !!

The only reason that i might have gone for 1200, would be the electronics which are amazing! as far as the bigger engine, i think that is more psychological than practical!

The only thing the 1200 has that I really wish was on the 950 is cruise control. I would have paid more to have it, seems like a no brainer for a bike that likely will be used mostly for touring.

That seems to be a common thing within all of the reviews out that are comparing the two. I guess if they incorporated all of those electronics on the 950 it either would have set price off too much or made it way too appealing that it would draw away from the 1200?
